On the exterior, we may look like a lot of other supplement companies, but let us assure you, we are not. Our primary purpose is not to convince you to buy products, it’s to advance the field of equine nutrition by:
Funding research to better understand how nutrition impacts the health of your horse.
Developing technology and feeding solutions to make it easier to feed your horse what he or she needs.
Providing education and support to horse owners and the broader equine community.
Nutrition is the cornerstone to equine health, well-being and optimal performance. Our nutritionists are always available to formulate a balanced feeding program for free.
We fund all of our activities through product sales. So if you feed your horse Mad Barn, thank you for helping us achieve our mission.
Meet Our Founder
Scott Cieslar - Horse Nutritionist | Mad Barn USAScott Cieslar has 20+ years experience as a professional nutritionist, receiving an MSc in physiology and nutrition from the University of Guelph. He started working on a PhD, but put his degree on hold to run Mad Barn.
Scott has nutrition down to a science, but he’s not just book smart; he’s got horse sense too.
Scott grew up surrounded by horses at the “B” tracks of Ontario. He has dedicated his life to better understanding the nutritional requirements of horses and helping horse owners put the latest research into practice.
My OTTB Nay Nay has been on Omneity since late March (in May we switched to half pellets and continued the premix at half a serving since he wasn’t the biggest fan). While we also treated for Lyme and EPM, in the almost years I’ve owned him, he’s never looked this good, eaten this little concentrate (I continue to reduce his hard feed), or had this shiny of a coat. I reached out for suggestions as he’s highly reactive to insects (and fly spray to the point his skin falls off) and your team suggested trying Omneity. I never thought I’d see this kind of response. I’m happy to address the bugs after the season ends 🤞🤞🤞
I am so pleased with the product quality and customer service from Mad Barn! I wanted to switch my 7yo OTTB over to a forage-based diet but wasn’t sure where to start. We had a free nutritional consult with Sophie, who was so friendly and helpful on the phone – she spent as much time as I needed to answer questions and go over details, and followed up promptly with written analyses and plans. We followed her instructions for a mix of Mad Barn products and some of our existing supplements. The new protocol saves me $50/month, and my horse is doing really well on it. With the mix of alfalfa pellets, Omneity, W3 oil, MSM, salt, and a gut supplement, he has quiet but forward energy, and has performed really well during our summer heat wave. His hooves have been surprisingly good with the dry weather and hard ground, his coat looks gorgeous, and his mane and tail are growing thick and fast. He seems an all-around happy fellow, with a happy mom too! Products always arrive quickly and any customer service outreach has been super responsive. So impressed with Mad Barn – thank you!
My 23-year-old mare, who I’ve had for 20 years, struggled through the past fall and winter where we hadn’t seen issues before. As her senior years crept up on her faster and seemed to be harder on her than I anticipated, I spent months working with my team of vets, farriers, chiropractors, dentists, etc to get her health regulated. Through this process, I did a nutrition consult with MadBarn and we did a comprehensive look at Cat’s nutrition, work load, daily routine, and living situation. Sophie was fantastic and helped me come up with a great plan and transition for my mare and she is back in great health! I’m so grateful for my village that helps me keep my mare healthy and grateful that MadBarn is a part of our team!
